Sharna Alley
Co-Founder, Uprising of the People
Sharna Alley is a 23 year old Danggalaba and Zenadth Kes woman.
Sharna carries blood line ties to Gulumoerrgin (Darwin), and Badu Island which is located in the Western Torres Straits, and she was born and raised on Gulumoerrgin.
She is a mother of her 3 year old son Maverick, and is an Aboriginal/TSI Health Practitioner at Darwin’s local Aboriginal Medical Service, Danila Dilba. In where she works directly with mob to improve their holistic health as well as their spiritual and cultural well being.
Outside of work Sharna is studying a Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Governance, and is Co-founder of UP: Uprising of the People- a local grassroots organisation to unite mob, amplify important voices and fight injustices that mob face in the Northern Territory.
Sharna’s goal and purpose in life is to: work directly with mob on the ground to uplift them and help them gain self determinance in all aspects of their lives and to do her best to follow in the big footsteps of those activists and trailblazers who have fought for centuries before her time and have made it possible for her to be in the positions that she is in today.
